Certified Shari'ah Governance Professional

It is for board members, company secretaries, senior managers, Shari'ah governance and compliance staff, and regulators who are responsible for how an Islamic financial institution organises Shari'ah oversight. It covers AAOIFI's revised Shari'ah governance framework, Governance Standard No. 1 (2024), and the standards that complete it: the appointment and composition of the Shari'ah supervisory board (GS 19), its functions, operations and independence (GS 20), the Shari'ah decision-making process (GS 18), the SSB's review and report (GS 21), central Shari'ah boards (GS 8) and Islamic subsidiaries and associates of conventional institutions (GS 22).

How it works: study the linked course The Shari'ah Governance Framework and the Shari'ah Supervisory Board, then sit a 40-question certification exam in 75 minutes. The pass mark is 70%, and the certificate is valid for three years.

This is an independent ifSPACE certification. It is free, it is not an AAOIFI qualification, and it is not accredited or endorsed by AAOIFI or any regulator.
