It is for risk managers, operational risk and compliance staff, Shari'ah auditors and board risk committee members. It covers Shari'ah non-compliance risk across the governance framework: its definition and the hierarchy of Shari'ah principles and rules (AAOIFI Governance Standard No. 1, 2024); preventive and detective controls, risk assessment and escalation by the compliance function (GS 9); the SSB's escalation protocol and handling of non-compliant income (GS 20); decision-making risks and psychological biases (GS 18); assurance from internal Shari'ah audit (GS 11) and the SSB's review and report (GS 21); ratings as an outside view of the risk (GS 10); and group risks for Islamic subsidiaries (GS 22).

How it works: study the linked courses The Shari'ah Governance Framework and the Shari'ah Supervisory Board and Shari'ah Compliance, Internal Shari'ah Audit and Ratings, then sit a 40-question certification exam in 75 minutes. The pass mark is 70%, and the certificate is valid for three years.
